And these were the words
as revealed by Sennedjem,
"Servant in the Place of Truth"

I bid ye most welcome,
Oh Traveller to Ancient Egypt,
Ye Seeker of life's mysteries.
Come!
Sit ye down by the still waters of this sacred lake
in our Sacred City of a Hundred Gates,
and pay heed to the words of Sennedjem,
the Servant in the Place of Truth,
and know ye this, traveller,
that your earthly journey is done.
You are come to the place that you seek,
and you have found that which you desire,
but your search for truth,
well truly, that has just begun.
So pray lend your ear to my story that
you may learn of the knowledge of the
Ancient Ones and how they used their
Symbols of Sacred Magical Power.
Let me tell you of
Imhotep the Architect
Once upon a time, many thousands of years
before my birth in the land of Lower Egypt,
high upon a wind swept rocky plateau,
on the west bank of the mighty Nile river,
a legendary king had cause to be built one
of the Eight Wonders of the Ancient World.
Such massive edifices of natural stone.
A tribute of excellence to craftsmanship
and of an overwhelming magnitude.
Built by the design of the legendary
god-architect Imhotep, not for the
glory of some megalomaniac Pharaoh,
but as an essential pillar of life itself
for all of the peoples of Ancient Egypt.
An undertaking which took thousands
of workers many years to complete,
but without which their very world would
have crumbled into the chaos of Set.

God-Imhotep and the Great Pyramid of Khufu
How many generations of mortals have gazed
in wonder at these mighty works and
attempted to guess at their ancient purpose?
Today we call these monuments the Pyramids
and they will forever conjure up an element
of awe and mystery in the mind of mankind.
What was their purpose, you ask?
Some say the pyramids were tombs
for the Ancient God King Pharaohs.
Ancient astronomical observatories.
Maps of the ancient world.
Maps of the heavens.
More specifically a star chart
of the constellation of
Orion.
The repositories for ancient mystic secrets.
And the butt of all other manner of
stuff and nonsense that the mind of man
could possibly conceive of, and believe in.
Most was well beyond the understanding
of us ordinary folk but that never
stopped us believing in it anyway, did it?
Well, fret no longer Traveller,
for I will tell you of their great purpose
and how it is possible for you to benefit
from the wisdom of our ancestors.
Secrets revealed.
These monuments are in fact nothing more than Doorways to the Spirit World of the Gods.

Lyneferti and Sennedjem worship the Star Gods
A means whereby heaven and earth might
communicate with one another in a
state
of perfect harmony and true understanding,
forever, and the crucial word
is, forever.
Not physical gateways, you understand
but spiritual pathways to another world.
I must stress these doorways are not
physical gateways, but spiritual pathways
by which means our forefathers were able to
guarantee millenniums of peace and stability.
Year after year, after year, after year, the mighty river Nile flooded the land,
without fail, and year after year, after year,
this brought an abundance of good fortune,
wealth and prosperity to everyone in Egypt.
A unique mutual cooperation with the gods
which produced the world's first truly
stable society, and it happened here, in this mystical land of Egypt,
and we were all part of this marvellous undertaking.

All the Common Folk worship the Star God King
The intermediary for all of this spiritual
intercourse between heaven and earth
was the Pharaoh, is the Pharaoh,
and always will be the
Pharaoh,
for upon his death the Pharaoh's spirit
is transported up to heaven, by
the priests, by means of ritual, where
he can, and does, speak to his
fellow gods directly on behalf of
the
people of his beloved Egypt, forever.
Forever
being the key word.
Providing that is, that the necessary ritual
was carried out, in the correct manner,
at the correct time, by the correct people.
That being so, then all went well with the
system and the people of Egypt prospered
and lived the good life of abundance and
plenty, and all was
well with their world.

Offering Incense and Sacred Oils to the Gods.
Unfortunately, however, my priestly
ancestors found that it was just not
possible to perform the ritual at all times,
never ending, without fail, and of course
the system then started to collapse, and
so chaos and anarchy descended upon the
land and the common folk suffered greatly.
Realising that they could not guarantee
to uphold their side of this bargain
with the gods on a physical level,
with so many unforeseen circumstances,
the priests attempted to solve the dilemma
by inventing a form of magical writing
called hieroglyphs and pictographs which
would operate the ritual at all times of the
day and night, albeit on a spiritual level,
in the absence of this fallible priesthood.

So the priests invented Magical Writing.
This magical writing was carved deep into the
walls of the pyramid tombs
so as to last
forever and it became known to modern-day
archaeologists as the pyramid texts.
This text ensured that the spirit of the king
was safely guided to his rightful place
alongside his fellow gods in heaven,
whereupon he could continue to fulfil his
role as the intermediary between the
Gods in Heaven and Mankind on Earth.

The Written Words of Power were
guarded day and night
respectively by the
Sun and Moon Eyes of the God
Horus.
Later generations took to inscribing papyrus scrolls
with the writing, as in the Book of the Dead,
to guide the deceased on their journey to Heaven,
and also on charms and talismans which were
secreted about the person of the mummy
to give it some spiritual protection against
the evil spirits that lurked in the Underworld.
Small figures, ushabti, were also included
with the mummies which would do the menial
tasks for the deceased in the Other World.

Ushabti were servants for the deceased.
Understand this then, traveller,
that the writing denotes a certain meaning,
when written or inscribed upon an object,
whether it be charm, or a talisman, the
wall of a tomb, papyrus scroll or a tarot card,
and it will always convey to that object
the meaning that has been written upon it,
for as long as that writing shall last.
T his functions purely on a spiritual level,
of course, and not on a physical level,
and as the Other World is spiritual,
not physical, who is to say whether or not
it acts exactly as planned and
really does
the deeds as intended by the
writer?

Tomb of Sennedjem and
the Fallen Statue of Ramesses
Our days of glory in this place are now long
gone, my friend, and our magnificence is
now but a faded memory of the glory
that
used to be, in those wondrous days of
old.
Our temples are in ruins, and our
gods are thrown down in the dust.
But the wisdom of those who went on
before us, traveller, lives on in their
spiritual writing and we can still use
this magic for the benefit of those
of us who are yet to find our way.
This is their present to
you, traveller,
a secret of countless ages, and to be
used in the form of Tarot cards, upon
which you will inscribe the meanings of
the ancient writing and, remember, that
they are given to you with
the wish that
you let them be your guide and mentor
on your journey through this earthly life,
in the sincere hope that you
may find the
truth and
peace that your heart desires.
Use them wisely traveller, and
They will serve you well.
But remember, traveller, that although you
may now be in a position to commune with
the spirit world, all of the answers to your
questions can only be given by the cards in
the spirit form, and it will be up to you to
transform that spiritual communication
into an appropriate material earthly action.

You are indeed the Hermit,
Oh Traveller to Ancient Egypt,
Ye Seeker of life's mysteries.
Bare your heart
to
Maat,
the goddess of truth,
wash your hands with pure
water,
let your soul free to search
of truth,
be silent and listen to my
words,
and travel with your body
and mind to find your destiny.
Always remember that nothing is as it seems.
The cards work of their own volition and They
will always give the same spirit message
to whom-so-ever uses them, regardless, but the actual translation of that message
into the material will always be coloured
by the disposition of the reader, be they
optimist or pessimist, fatalist or dreamer,
militant or appeaser, or just plain fickle.
It's not really a case of
"What you see is what you get".
More like "Who you are is who you get".
Think about that and have a safe journey.
